I was fortunate enough to spend the weekend at Lyth Arts Centre in Caithness this May at a Visual Theatre Lab run by Manipulate Arts and Lyth Arts Centre.

Working with tutors Gavin Glover, Althea Young, and Dr Micah Mackay, I, along with a group of fantastic performers and artists from across the Highlands and Aberdeenshire explored how visual arts techniques from contemporary puppetry to technology in theatre and micro cinema techniques could expand and inform our practice.

With great food, wonderful weather, the best company and a heart stopping display of aurora borealis we’ve all left the weekend relaxed, replenished and bursting with ideas!

I had a flying visit to Glasgow over the first weekend in May where I squeezed in a visit to VerseAye Spoken Word Night at If I Should Die Tonight in Govanhill and a performance at Glasgow Zine Fest in the CCA on Sauchiehall Street - more on the Zine Fest coming soon, but meantime, here’s a few snaps of VerseAye.

They’re back again with a Pride special on the first Thursday in June!

I was thrilled to perform with some of Scotland’s best spoken word performers again at the Scottish Slam Championships 2024 in the Panopticon Theatre in Glasgow on 16th March. Massive congratulations to Gordon Powrie for claiming the title after 5 years of making the final round, with an incredible final performance!

Thoroughly enjoyed Express Yourself at Bru in Glasgow’s West End in November. Express Yourself has moved from Bru now but is definitely worth checking out!

Ness Book Fest Poetry Slam - a great night back in September 2023 with some of the Highlands finest, on ‘home’ turf at The Bike Shed.

Loud Poets Grand Slam Final at the Edinburgh Book Festival - a prime time slot in the worlds biggest book festival in front of a capacity crowd in the Baillie Gifford Sculpture Court - not too shabby… Spoiler alert - I didnae win, but you should definitely watch the night anyway - it features some of Scotlands top Spoken Word performers on their absolute A game..
